Happy 90th Birthday Dr. Hamlin

Dr. Elinor Catherine Hamlin (Photo: hamlin.org.au)On 24 January 1924 Elinor Catherine Hamlin was born at home in Sydney, Australia. In 2014 Dr Hamlin AC celebrates her 90th birthday. And there is much to celebrate! Between 1924 and 2014 Dr Hamlin has achieved more than most, co-founding the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital with her husband Reg and spending more than half a century living in Ethiopia, serving some of the most marginalised women in the world.

At age 90, Dr Hamlin is still operating every Thursday and lives in her cottage on the banks of the river at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital.

For her birthday, Dr Hamlin has asked that supporters give much-needed “gifts” for the hospital. These can be “purchased” as tax deductible donations with all proceeds supporting the work of Dr Catherine Hamlin and her team at Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia. Rolls of fabric, hospital blankets, fistula operations, Caesarean sections for cured patients, training for midwives and rural midwifery clinics all need funding!

Choose your “birthday gift” for Dr Hamlin from the list below. You can either buy the item outright or choose a target and fundraise towards reaching that goal. Dr Hamlin will receive a giant birthday card listing all 90th Birthday gift registry donors. This appeal ends on 31 March 2014.
