Locally assembled green ‘scooty’ introduced
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Balaaji Manufacturing Plc., an Indian-owned company introduced its motorcycle brand named ‘Scooty’ at a program held at Monarch Hotel on April 7.
The motorcycle, that get its power from an electrically rechargeable battery, is assembled at a plant in Legetafo. The motorcycle costs between 24,000 and 25,000 birr and can go at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
Bharatt Jindall, Co-owner of the company said, “there is considerable traffic congestion in Addis and people want to reach on time to their destination. And I think this electric motorcycle will help people avoid the congestion.’’
“With not more than 100 birr electric cost to recharge the battery, Scooty travels 5,000 kilometers with zero environmental impact,” Jindall said.
