India’s Sarovar Hotels enters Ethiopia’s Hospitality Market
India’s Sarovar Hotels has made another foray into Africa with the signing of its first hotel in Ethiopia.
The hotel is owned by Meskerem Alemu Kebede, it added. The company, however, did not provide any financial details of the management contract it has signed.
Located in the country’s capital city, the Sarovar Premiere Addis Ababa will offer 101 rooms, taking the company’s total inventory in Africa to more than 1,000 keys.
“Being Ethiopia’s biggest commercial hub and the host location of the African Union headquarters, Addis Ababa has become a major destination for many travelers to the continent – business as well as leisure,” commented Ajay K. Bakaya, Sarovar’s executive director.
“We see great growth potential in this market with high demand and this development makes a momentous step in our growth and expansion strategy in the overseas market.”
Sarovar Premiere Addis Ababa will become the company’s seventh property in Africa, joining existing hotels in Tanzania, Kenya and South Sudan, and others under development in Kenya and Zambia.
