Adama Abebe Bikila Stadium to host 3rd All Ethiopia Games
Adama, Ethiopia – The Abebe Bikila Stadium in Adama, which was renovated at a cost of 43 million Birr, is ready to host the 3rd All Ethiopia Games Competition, the State Water Works, Design and Supervision Enterprise said.
The competition will kick off on Sunday, with 4,000 athletes competing in 17 categories.
Enterprise Head, Getachew Eshetu told ENA that the stadium will accommodate indoor and outdoor games including handball and basketball.
Getachew said the stadium has more than 2000 seats in the tribune area as well as lounges and shower rooms for players, among others.
Local residents Getnet Mandefro and Nebil Mubarek for their parts said that the stadium would not only help Adama attract sports events, but it would also serve as a venue for youths in the area to spend their leisure time in a healthier environment.
The Adama Abebe Bikila Stadium is the second stadium in Ethiopia to be named after the Olympic hero. The other stadium is found in Addis Ababa’s Gulele area.
