“FIFA MASTER” Graduate, Meskerem Goshime, appointed as Deputy Secretary General of Ethiopian Football Federation
The “FIFA Master” course team were delighted to learn this month that Meskerem Goshime has been appointed as the Deputy Secretary General of the Ethiopian Football Federation. Meski, who graduated from the “FIFA Master” 16th edition, is the first woman to hold this important position at the Federation.
Following graduation from the course in July 2016, Meski, who holds an elite football instructor licence, worked at the 2017 African Cup of Nations as part of the Event Management, Protocol and Services Team. During the tournament she was based at The Stade de Port-Gentil, in Port-Gentil, Gabon, as Event Co-ordinator. This stadium saw some of the biggest matches in the tournament with Ghana, Egypt, Mali and Uganda all playing group games at this venue and the 3rd place match, which was eventually won by Burkina Faso, also taking place in Gabon.
As soon as the African Cup of Nations had successfully concluded, Meski accepted the position of Event Management and Local Liaison Officer for the 39th General Assembly and 60 years celebration of the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) event held in Addis Ababa. Following this, she then moved to her new position as Deputy Secretary General of the Ethiopian Football Federation.
Speaking about her new appointment Meski said, “I am the first women in Ethiopia to hold this position. In my new role I will be focusing on managing the technical development of football and also the development of both women’s football and national teams”.
The International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport – the “FIFA Master” is organized by the CIES in partnership with De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel.
We send our congratulations to Meski and wish her every success in this important new position within Ethiopian football.
