South African tour group arrives here
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia –  A 40-member South African tour group arrived here on Sunday to explore the fascinating tourist attraction sites of Ethiopia.
The group comprises the famous Ethiopian super model Anna Getaneh, journalists and editors of famous magazines in South Africa, which have reputable record of supporting tourism not only in Ethiopia but also in Africa.
During its four-day stay here, the group will visit tourist sites in Amhara State and also Bishoftu Town of Oromia State.
The visit was organized in collaboration with the Ethiopian Airlines, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as well as Kuriftu Resort.
Culture and Tourism State Minister, Tadelech Dalecho and Ethiopian Airlines Executive Management Team, among others, welcomed the group upon arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
Tadelech on the occasion lauded activities of the group to support Ethiopia’s image building endeavours.
Tadelech said the age long historical relation between Ethiopia and South Africa is in good shape and the visit of the group will further strengthen the relation.
Anna on her part said visit of the group will create good opportunity to promote Ethiopia’s good images in South Africa.
Emannuel B. Xaba of Celbon International also said the visit will help the group to have a look to Ethiopia’s tourist sites and first hand information on its economic growth.
Director Uyaphi.com, Nicolas Edwards also said Uyaphi.com will work to promote Ethiopia’s tourist sites such as the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela and also Lake Tana.
Gabrielle Lange of T.W.S Travel Pty Ltd. on the occasion said the visit will help the group to observe culture and hospitality of the Ethiopian people.
Ethiopian Airlines made its maiden flight to Johannesburg in June 1993 and currently provides a non-stop daily service between Addis Ababa and Johannesburg.
In summer 2012 Ethiopian will start flying to Johannesburg with its 787 Dreamliner, the 21st century technology airplane.
