Ethiopia Project “Run Your Shoes Off” 5K/10K

 

Portland, Oregon – (Press Release) – The Ethiopia Project is a local non-profit organization which primary mission is to collect gently, used running shoes from the Portland Metro/Vancouver area and donates them to aspiring, underprivileged runners in Ethiopia.

This year, The Ethiopia Project is expanding its mission by holding a charitable run/walk to raise money to build a new high school science laboratory building at Fassiledes High School in the city of Gondar, Ethiopia!  The existing science laboratory is dilapidated, partially collapsed, and unusable due to safety concerns.

The 5k/10k run and walk event, called *Run Your Shoes Off will be held on *Sunday August 5, 2012 *at 9am at the beautiful Greenway Park in Beaverton, Oregon.  The run/walk will take place on the nice and flat Fanno Creek trail in the Park.  Participants at the finish line also have the option of donating their gently used shoes in bins if they would like, but is not required.
