Go Ahead Tours Expands Safari Portfolio to Include Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe

Two new destinations join Kenya and South Africa on travel company’s roster of tours that explore the wilds of Africa.

Cambridge, MA (Press Release) – Group travel leader Go Ahead Tours has introduced two new safari destinations for 2013, Tanzania Wildlife Safari and Untouched Africa: Botswana and Zimbabwe. These two new tours join the popular Kenya Wildlife Safari and South Africa Discovery in the company’s portfolio of tours in Africa.

“We found that travelers returning from safari were looking for more options to deepen their exploration, so we couldn’t be more excited to offer travelers these two new tours,” said Lael Kassis, Director of Product Development, “Botswana is a highly coveted destination because of the spectacular wildlife and very limited available access. We were able to craft an itinerary that utilizes small, chartered aircraft to get our travelers right into where the action is. In Tanzania we saw a tremendous opportunity to delve deeper into an area that has been wildly popular with our travelers as a 4-night extension to the Kenya Wildlife Safari.”

Highlights on Untouched Africa: Botswana and Zimbabwe include the iconic Victoria Falls, Okavango Delta and a sunset river cruise through Chobe National Park, an area which boasts a diverse landscape of lush floodplains and dense hardwood forests. Travelers have the option of extending their tour by adding three nights in vibrant Cape Town, home to the Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain, celebrated wineries and world-renowned beaches.

Tanzania Wildlife Safari is available as a standalone tour, or in conjunction with Kenya Safari Tour. Travelers now have the option to add the 4-day Tanzania tour extension or to continue on the full 13-day Tanzania Wildlife Safari. The full tour features an extensive visit to the Serengeti National Park which includes the iconic granite boulders of Maru Kopjes, a 1000 foot descent into the Ngorngoro Crater and exploration of Lake Manyara Nation park, home to flamingoes, pelicans, hippos and more. Travelers can choose to add an optional extension to Zanzibar, which boasts a colorful culture of Arab and European influence.

Besides game drives and nature excursions, each of the new safari tours includes aspects of local culture and community outreach. Travelers visit with the Masai and also have opportunities to learn about initiatives such as the Rose of Charity, an organization in Botswana that helps improve the quality of life of local children, their families and local communities by working to alleviate poverty and improve education.
